Fortunately it was one of the small double-glazed windows and only the outer pane was broken. The hail, rain, wind and thunder was so loud I didn't hear it. Wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't gone to get the hosepipe to blast a column of ants that were marching up the side of the house in cartoon style. I think they were stealing insulation material from the loft, strand by strand, which could explain why it's so patchy up there. Gave the house perimeter its annual dousing in Ortho Home Defense Max and turned the hose on a couple of hornets' nest too. |

Obama I saw Obama talk today. My adult experiences with past Presidents has made me so cynical that I don't want to like him. I'm pretty sure that I'll end up disappointed. Despite myself, it was exciting to see our future President. And I've always wanted a picture of me with the president. His talk was short and sweet, maybe because he's exhausted. He spoke well of Clinton and condemned the war. He said he'd push for education. Free college for people who will go do a year or two of civil service work post-graduation. Health care and housing for all. Ok. I'm sold. I like to think that kid is whispering something insightful and profound to his dad but I suspect he had to pee. |

Recycling Does anyone know where to go to recycle newspapers? I've tried the net, but am not very or something, haven't been able to find where they deal with newspapers. I don't have a whole lot of it, I just would rather recycle it than toss it. Thanks! Current Mood: curious |
